Resize a GIF
Change width, height or scale while keeping the animation. Pixel dimensions and file size are different measurements; check both in the result.
Keep the proportions and compare the result
- Select the original GIF and keep the aspect ratio locked.
- Enter a width, height or percentage that suits the actual display area.
- Encode and compare small text, outlines, colors and motion at the final display size.
- Download the file and check its dimensions and bytes before uploading.
Resizing 800 × 600 pixels to 400 × 300 reduces pixel area to one quarter. File bytes do not necessarily decrease by the same ratio. Enlarging a small GIF does not recover details lost during previous compression.
This dimensions control resizes the frame; it does not crop its edges. Timeline trimming removes starting or ending frames instead.
